Solar PV Installer - Level 1 Certification (SS PV 1)

SS PV 1 is Solar Staffing, Inc.'s entry-level course designed for anyone interested in becoming a solar photovoltaic installer or technician. SS PV 1 will teach highly marketable and desirable skills and abilities that all solar employees should have. The course focus is the core practical knowledge in "grid-tied systems" to get you quickly integrated into a solar PV install crew. This course is also a good review for those in the field looking to improve on their solar fundamentals. No pre-requisites or experience necessary!

Course duration: 2 days (both weekday and weekend dates available)

The course teaches:

Strong "practical" foundation in hands-on roof and ground work pertinent to solar
Hands-on installation of a grid-tied system
General knowledge of the mechanics and engineering of solar power systems
Basics of solar electricity, initial electrical principles, the initial concepts for solar design, how to work with the tools of the trade, how to install solar panels on to roofs, and a first level introduction to the inverters of a grid-tied PV installation
Customer Service skills because the "customer is always right"! Solar PV install is not the exception, and every crew member will enjoy how to apply this edict in a rational manner.
Health and Safety training, in depth health and safety issues and requirements that are pertinent to the solar work place are covered (OHSA and NEC requirements)

Solar PV Designer - Level 2 Certification (SS PV 2)

SS PV 2 is Solar Staffing, Inc.'s second level course. This course provides a more in depth treatment of solar photovoltaic design topics, and is intended for those with a background in solar PV install or those who have completed SS PV 1.

Course duration: 2 days

The course teaches:

In-depth treatment of the Sun as a resource
Solar Pathfinder lab to drill necessary site survey skills
Detailed grid-tied system design
In-depth coverage of PV wiring practices based on NEC requirements
PV string sizing exercises, and PV losses
Key electrical load analysis techniques
Core energy conservation topics, how to nail "low lying fruit" and avoid over-sizing a solar system

Solar PV Sales and Estimator - Level 3 Certification (SS PV 3)

SS PV 3 is Solar Staffing, Inc.'s sales and estimator course. This course is designed for those with an interest in becoming part of the solar sales workforce, company executives who need to understand the numbers and those with an interest in the estimation process and is intended for those with a knowledge of solar power systems, or those who have completed SS PV1.

Course duration: 1 day

The course teaches:

Covers the latest in solar PV installation pricing and economics of solar in light of Federal, State, and local rebate and incentive programs.
Cost estimation exercises and calculations
Examine cost parameters: permit cost, incentive and rebate programs, equipment cost, type of roof, string sizing constraints, time, and labor

Solar Engineering and Technology (SS SET)

SS SET is Solar Staffing, Inc.'s engineering and technology course designed for those interested in an overview of the latest and emerging solar energy conversion techniques driving the Solar Industry. This course is appropriate for those looking to enter the solar industry, from entry level to management positions with a focus in solar technology. SS SET will teach breadth to those looking to gain highly marketable knowledge in a nascent and booming CleanTech industry. This course is also a good review for those looking to improve their understanding of the present status on solar energy conversion techniques and the future of solar using thin film technology. No pre-requisites or experience is necessary!

Historical introduction to solar technology
In depth overview and update on "Thin-film" solar technologies and the Industry leaders; including deposition techniques, material systems, and prospects
